  TTF is one of the largest Tolkien discussion sites on the Net, and is populated by some of the greatest Tolkien fans you're likely to find. You can participate in discussions on nearly every subject even remotely connected to Tolkien's works.

  TTF also has a popular 'Middle-earth RPG' sub-section dedicated to the creative stories and games that take place in Middle-earth. Role Playing Games resemble stories where players take on the role of a character, and tell their part of the story while interacting with other writers and their characters.

For those with a really good set of boots, a sturdy hard hat, and an iron constitution, you may want to check out the two USENET groups dedicated to Tolkien's works. Both ALT.FAN.TOLKIEN and REC.ARTS.BOOKS.TOLKIEN have something of a trial by fire approach to testing the value of ones contribution, but these groups are also frequented by some of the most knowledgeable Tolkien fans around.
